Morgan Hill, CA – The Morgan Hill Unified School District is pleased to announce that Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, Dr. Ramon Zavala, has been awarded 2019 Administrator of the Year by the California Association of Bilingual Education (CABE).  Each year, CABE honors “one exemplary administrator who has made contributions to bilingual education through their excellent work, dedication and leadership on behalf of English Learners,” according to the CABE website. Other honoree categories include Teacher of the Year, Para-Educator of the Year, and Parent of the Year.

Dr. Zavala is an ardent advocate for English Learners and providing them opportunities to develop multilingual skills and academic success. We value his knowledge of English learner pedagogy and the mentorship he provides principals and his staff in Educational Services,” said Superintendent Steve Betando.

Dr. Zavala has been a champion of multilingualism throughout his career and an integral part of organizing services to Spanish-speaking families. Programs such as CABE’s Project 2Inspire provide resources and opportunities to parents in support of their children’s academic success. He has promoted college and career pathways workshops through Project Roadmap. He also led the committee responsible for Morgan Hill Inspiring Multilingual Achievement: A Global Initiative for National Excellence (IMAGINE), A District Master Plan for English Learner Success.

Dr. Zavala will be honored at the annual CABE Award Luncheon on March 21, 2019 at the Long Beach Convention Center, in Long Beach, CA.
