On Sunday, March 26, 2017, community members gathered at St. Catherine’s Church in Morgan Hill to receive educational information about immigrant rights and learn what local and State agencies are doing to support immigrants in distress.
MHUSD Superintendent Steve Betando was asked to speak about the school district’s stance on the national immigration discussion and what MHUSD is doing to help students and families.
It is the District’s belief that every student has the right to a good education and should not live in fear of coming to school, nor should their parents be afraid to visit any school campus. On January 17, 2017, the Board of Trustees passed a Safe Places for All resolution, to strengthen their public commitment to protecting all students.
Please see below for the Superintendent’s full remarks in both English and Spanish.
